Adolfo Alvarez
Adolfo Alvarez serves as Special Assistant to the Secretary at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), where he advises leadership on communications, stakeholder engagement and executive operations.
His dedication to public service in North Carolina began as Student Body President at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, during which he also served as a member of the University’s Board of Trustees. He has also held key leadership roles for international relations and diplomacy conferences across Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, as well as at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Raised in Mexico, Adolfo moved to the United States independently at age 16. He holds a bachelor's degree in public relations and global studies from UNC-Chapel Hill and lives in Raleigh with his cat.
