Outreach and Education

The Department of Environmental Quality is dedicated to increasing environmental literacy in the state. The department offers environmental education opportunities to the public and provides teachers and other educators with the training and tools they need to educate others about our environment. The department also provides assistance to citizens and businesses in many areas including air quality, land and water resources, energy conservation, waste management and recycling. Staff in the department are working hard to educate people about the issues connected to the choices they make each day.

Environmental Education

Nothing can replace hands-on, get dirty, wet and muddy learning. The Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs provides an online, statewide calendar for outdoor nature programs, workshops, camps and professional development. Using the office website, you can learn about more than 200 environmental education centers to visit with your students or family. Teachers and environmental educators can find resources for their classroom and learn about grants, materials, field trips, volunteer opportunities and becoming a certified environmental educator.
