Arietty Brush was promoted to the role of Internal Audit Director in July 2024. She leads the Office of Internal Audit as the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) and aligns efforts to achieve DEQ's vision, mission, and goals through engagements, advisory roles, technical assistance, education/training, and varied subject matter expertise.
Arietty joined DEQ in September 2022 as the agency’s first Information Systems & IT Auditor within the Office of Internal Audit. In June 2023, she was promoted to the role of Internal Control Manager within the Office of Continuous Improvement and assisted with advising and navigating over $5 billion in awarded federal and state funds.
Arietty brings nearly 25 years of audit experience with a varied skillset including performance, compliance, financial, advisory, information systems / technology, and investigative.
She earned her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University and bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Tennessee State University. Arietty is professionally certified as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) through ISACA, and as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) through the IIA.
Arietty has enjoyed calling Raleigh home and enjoys exploring the area and all that it has to offer. She enjoys spending time with her family and two amazing boys, as well as her two Bengal kittens, Milo and Moxie.
