The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality is now accepting public comments on a draft Title V air quality permit for Terra-Mulch Products, LLC in Catawba County.Public comments will be accepted until July 27.Terra-Mulch produces mulch and other agricultural products by processing wood fibers in natural gas-fired dryers and baggers at its facility at 219 Simpson St., Conover. This process emits volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter, and various hazardous air pollutants.

After thoroughly investigating multiple citizen complaints regarding off-site dust impacts near the Port of Wilmington, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) is requiring two facilities, Enviva Pellets and Basaga International, to adopt additional fugitive dust control measures.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) is accepting public comment on a draft air quality permit modification for Corning Incorporated - Midland. Public comments will be accepted until July 8, 2024.The facility, at 14556 U.S. Highway 601 S., Midland, in Cabarrus County, manufactures glass fiber optic cables used in the telecommunications, networking and semiconductor industries. Corning Incorporated - Midland currently holds a Title V air quality permit as a major source under the Prevention of Significant Deterioration program.
