On October 1, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published simultaneously a Proposed Rule and a Direct Final Rule entitled “North Carolina: Final Approval of State Underground Storage Tank Program Revisions, Codification and Incorporation by Reference” in the Federal Register under Docket # EPA-R04-UST-2024-0279. The proposed rule (FRL-12181-01-R4) provides for a 30-day comment period on the Direct Final Rule (FRL-12181-02-R4) North Carolina Final Approval on the State’s SPA application.

The Division of Waste Management - Solid Waste Section will host a public hearing to accept public comments on Draft Permit 8807-MSWLF-1990 for lateral expansion of the existing landfill.  The landfill is located at 500 Howell Road, Brevard, NC.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Solid Waste Section has prepared draft Solid Waste Permit, No. 8807-MSWLF-1990, approving a lateral expansion, Phase 7, of the existing lined Transylvania County municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill.   The facility is located at 500 Howell Road, Brevard, NC.  The draft permit is available for public review and comment.
