North Carolina’s Drought Management Advisory Council (DMAC) has expanded its Severe Drought category (D2 classification) for parts of 31 counties as of Nov. 7. Impacted counties range from Cherokee County in the west to Moore County in the east. Severe Drought is the second category of the four drought classifications based on the U.S. Drought Monitor. Portions of an additional 39 counties in western North Carolina are considered to be in Moderate Drought category (D1 classification).

The Town of Liberty (Post Office Box 1006, Liberty, North Carolina 27298) has requested Special Order by Consent (SOC) SOC WQ S19-011 Ad, I for its Town of Liberty wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) – a 550,000 GPD wastewater collection, treatment and irrigation facility operating under the authority of non-discharge Permit Nos. WQ0003090 and WQCS00280.

Iowat Corporation, 6058 Lois Lane, Archdale, NC 27263 has requested new permit NCS000133 for the Iowat Corporation facility in Randolph County. This facility discharges to an unnamed tributary to Uwharrie River in the Yadkin Pee-Dee River Basin.
