The Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DEMLR) invites public comment on, or objections to, the following NPDES Stormwater Individual Permit to be issued. Persons wishing to comment on or object to the draft permit may submit comments to Brianna Young (Attn: DEMLR Stormwater Program) during the public comment period. Written comments may be submitted to the address at end of this message.

The Department of Environmental Quality will hold a hearing next month for the adoption of proposed rules 15A NCAC 01X .0101-.0106, .0201-.0203, and .0301-.0303, “Express Permitting,” as required by S.L. 2023-134, s. 12.13.(b).

The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March18, 2025, in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building in Raleigh. Online attendance will also be available via Webex.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwain Veach as the new State Geologist of North Carolina. Veach will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Dr. Kenneth Taylor, who retired in November 2024 after more than 30 years of service.
The North Carolina Mining Rules Committee that was scheduled to meet on Dec. 16, 2024 has been canceled.
