State officials are hosting a public hearing to gather comments on the draft of a permit Duke Energy needs for an on-site, industrial landfill to handle coal ash and other waste at its Marshall Steam Station in Catawba County. The utility is seeking permission from the N.C. Division of Waste Management to build two additional areas and continue operating two existing areas in the industrial solid waste landfill. The industrial landfill is at the Marshall Steam Station in Sherrill’s Ford near Mooresville.
