NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE A CONSENT ORDER
Public notice of intent to issue a State Consent Order to the following:
The Town of Lake Lure (PO Box 255, Lake Lure, NC 28746) has requested an amendment for Special Order by Consent No. S20-004 for its Lake Lure WWTP, a 995,000 GPD wastewater treatment facility under the authority of discharge permit NC0025381, and for its Lake Lure Collection System under the authority of collection system permit WQCS00131. The Lake Lure WWTP discharges treated wastewater to the Broad River in the Broad River Basin.
The Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue the Order per Article 21 of Chapter 143, N.C. General Statutes, and other regulations effective December 1, 2026.
Compliance with this Order requires rehabilitation and upgrades of the wastewater treatment plant and improvements to the collection system and upgrades at pump stations. The Town of Lake Lure shall comply with the NPDES and collection system permit limits with the exception of the interim limitations identified in the Order. This Order will expire on July 31, 2031.

Comments on the proposed Order received no later than 30 days after the publish date of this notice will be considered in the final determination. A public meeting may be held if there is a significant degree of public interest.
