Notice of Federal Consistency Review: U.S. Marine Corps, Range and Training Area Operations at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management (DCM) hereby gives notice that public review and comment is invited on the below proposed federal action.
Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune proposes to continue and enhance its existing range and training operations, including the introduction of new training activities, systems, and minor infrastructure improvements to support evolving military readiness needs. The proposed action includes expanded land, air, and water-based training; such as live-fire exercises, unmanned systems operations, and amphibious maneuvers—within the installation’s Range Training Area Complex. The applicant has determined that activities occurring within the coastal zone would result in de minimis impacts and is requesting concurrence that these effects are insignificant and exempt from further federal consistency review.
The State’s review of the submitted request will determine if the proposed project in Onslow County is consistent with the enforceable policies of North Carolina’s Coastal Management Program. A more thorough description of the proposed federal actions may be examined in the Related Documents section of this page.
