Notice of Federal Consistency Review: USACE Temporary Ground Water Well; FY 2025 Carolina and Kure Beach CSRM Project

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management (DCM) hereby gives notice that public review and comment is invited on the below proposed federal action.

To ensure compliance with the Coastal Zone Management Act, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is requesting concurrence with a Federal Consistency Determination for the installation of a temporary groundwater well for the purposes of cooling an upland located, in-line booster pump, along the pipeline route for the Fiscal Year 2025 Carolina and Kure Beach & Vicinity Coastal Storm Risk Management Project.

The State’s review of the submitted federal consistency determination request will determine if the proposed project in Perquimans County is consistent with the enforceable policies of North Carolina’s Coastal Management Program.

All comments will be considered in developing the state’s consistency response. Notice of the decision regarding this matter will be provided upon request.
