Notice of Intent to Issue an NPDES Wastewater Permit No. NC0006220 – Kannapolis WTP
The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue an NPDES wastewater discharge permit to the person(s) listed below. Written comments regarding the proposed permit will be accepted until 30 days after the publication date of this notice. The Director of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) may hold a public hearing should there be a significant degree of public interest. Please mail comments and/or information requests to DWR at the address above. Additionally, interested persons may visit DWR at 512 N. City of Kannapolis [401 Laureate Way, Kannapolis, NC 28081] has requested renewal and modification of permit NC0006220 for Kannapolis WTP [1353 Pump Station Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28081] located in Rowan County. The permitted facility discharges treated filter backwash wastewater to an unnamed tributary of Irish Buffalo Creek and to Irish Buffalo Creek (Kannapolis Lake) within the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. Currently, Total Residual Chlorine and Total Copper are water quality-limited parameters. This discharge may affect future wasteload allocations within this segment of Irish Buffalo Creek.
