Notice of Intent to Issue an NPDES Wastewater Permit No. NC0036277-McDowell Creek WWTP
The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue an NPDES wastewater discharge permit to the person(s) listed below. Written comments regarding the proposed permit will be accepted until 30 days after the publication date of this notice. The Director of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) may hold a public hearing should there be a significant degree of public interest. Please mail comments and/or information requests to DWR at the above address. Interested persons may visit DWR at 512 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27604, to review the information on file. Charlotte Water [5100 Brookshire Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28216] has requested renewal of NPDES permit NC0036277 for its McDowell Creek Water Resources Recovery Facility, located in Mecklenburg County. This permitted facility discharges treated municipal wastewater to McDowell Creek, a class WS-IV;CA water in the Catawba River Basin. Currently CBOD, ammonia, TSS, fecal coliform, dissolved oxygen, pH, total residual chlorine, TN Load and TP Load are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this segment of McDowell Creek. (Public Notice is scheduled to be published in The Lake Norman Publications on 3/24/26.)
