SPECIAL ORDER BY CONSENT FOR

MERIDIAN BRICK LLC – SALISBURY FACILITY

EAST SPENCER, ROWAN COUNTY

Meridian Brick LLC – Salisbury Facility (the Company) operates a brick production facility in Rowan County, North Carolina. The facility is located at 700 South Long Street, East Spencer, NC 28039. The Company has agreed to a Special Order by Consent (SOC) with the North Carolina Division of Air Quality (DAQ) for exceeding permitted emissions limits. The terms of the SOC require production limitations, conversion to natural gas, submittal of a permit application, reporting requirements, payment of a penalty and stipulated penalties for failure to comply with the SOC. The SOC expires December 31, 2018.

Interested persons are invited to review the proposed SOC, and to submit written comments to the DAQ at the above address, so that the comments are received by 5 p.m. March 10, 2018. Any person requesting a public hearing regarding the proposed SOC should submit a written request with a statement supporting the need for such a hearing. The request should be sent to the DAQ at the above address, so that the request is received by 5 p.m. March 10, 2018. The DAQ Director shall take final action for the Commission on Consent Orders within 60 days of the initial public notice.
