The SGL Carbon LLC (307 Jamestown Road, Meganton, NC 28655) has applied for renewal of NPDES permit NC0005258 for the SGL Carbon in Burke County . This permitted facility discharges primarily non-contact cooling water to Silver Creek in the Catawba River Basin. Currently, total suspended solids, oil and grease, and total residual chlorine are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this portion of the Catawba River Basin.
