RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Waste Management (DEQ), along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will offer free asbestos soil sampling to property owners in the residential area within one-quarter mile of the former Carolina Asbestos Corporation site in Davidson.

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board will hold its meeting Monday, May 18, remotely via teleconference, in place of an in-person meeting. New blue crab management measures will go into effect May 1 in North Carolina state waters

RALEIGH – The Department of Environmental Quality’s Recycling Program recently provided $665,630 in recycling business development grants to 20 North Carolina recycling companies.

The Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host an online public hearing on May 4 to receive comment on the proposed rules to regulate emissions of methyl bromide at log fumigation operations.

The Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources (DWR) recently approved an individual 401 Water Quality Certification for Cashiers Canoe Club Development, LLC, for dredging and development activities that will impact roughly 10 acres on Cashiers Lake in Jackson County.

A N.C. Coastal Resources Commission’s (CRC) subcommittee will meet by web conference on Wednesday, April 15 at 2 p.m. to continue discussing the implementation of development lines and static line exceptions on oceanfront beaches. The public may listen to the meeting by phone.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will require extensive revisions to the proposed Corrective Action Plan submitted by Chemours on December 31, 2019, due to inadequacies in the plan.  

The State Water Infrastructure Authority will meet Wednesday, April 8. The meeting will be conducted remotely, via WebEx, in place of an in-person meeting.
