RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board will hold its meeting Monday, August 23, remotely via teleconference. The meeting was originally scheduled with an in-person option but has been changed to a remote meeting to minimize the spread of COVID-19. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) has partnered with the North Carolina State Climate Office to develop a new air quality tool, the Ambient Information Reporter (AIR).
The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries will begin accepting applications Monday, Aug. 16, for the 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act (CARES Act II) Fisheries Relief Program. The financial assistance is available to eligible commercial fishermen and marine aquaculture operators, seafood dealers and processors, and for-hire fishing operators who can document a greater than 35% revenue loss in 2020 compared to the previous five-year average due to COVID-19.

Dowry Creek Marina in Belhaven is the newest facility to be certified as a North Carolina Clean Marina, a designation given to marinas that exceed minimum regulatory requirements. The marina, located on upper Dowry Creek in Beaufort County, received the certification in June.
