North Carolina Greenhouse Gas Inventory Updated

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has released the 2022 update to the state Greenhouse Gas Inventory.

State coastal commission to meet in Beaufort Feb. 10; Advisory Council to meet Feb. 9

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) will meet Feb.10 at the Beaufort Hotel, 2440 Lennoxville Road, Beaufort. A public input and comment period is scheduled for noon. At the chair’s discretion, comments may be limited to three minutes per person. Prior to the commission meeting, the Coastal Resources Advisory Council (CRAC) will meet at 3 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the same location. Both meetings are open to the public. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all attendees should wear a mask and maintain social distance during the meeting.

N. C. Coastal Resources Commission Science Panel to meet Feb. 3 by web conference

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) Science Panel will meet February 3 by web conference. The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. The public may join the meeting by computer or phone. Agenda items include a discussion of the CRC’s Draft Charge to the Science Panel for sea level rise updates.

N.C. Oil and Gas Commission to meet on Feb. 8

The North Carolina Oil and Gas Commission will meet virtually on Feb. 8, 2022. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m., and the public may join the meeting by computer or phone.

North Carolina Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board to meet February 7

The state Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board will meet on Monday, February 7, via WebEx. The public is invited to attend the meeting online or by phone.

Public comment period opens on draft air permit modification for Domtar Paper Company

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality seeks public comment on a draft permit modification for the Domtar Paper Company facility in Plymouth. Public comment will be accepted until February 19, 2022.

Air Permit Issued for Enviva Pellets Sampson

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) has issued a first-time Title V permit for Enviva Pellets Sampson, LLC.  The facility was required to obtain a Title V permit under the terms of its current operating permit.

Public Hearing Rescheduled to February 21, Comment Period Extended on Draft Permit for North Carolina Renewable Power

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host a remote public hearing on a draft permit for the North Carolina Renewable Power facility in Lumberton on February 21, 2022.  The hearing was previously scheduled for January 25.

REMINDER: Fisheries ask public to report cold stunned trout

The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries wants to remind the public to report any cold stunned spotted seatrout they may see in North Carolina coastal waters.
