State seeks public feedback on Cape Fear and Weatherspoon Plant draft consent orders

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking public comment on draft special orders by consent for Duke Energy’s Cape Fear Plant in Moncure and Weatherspoon Plant in Lumberton. The public comment period will be open until January 9, 2020 for both orders. The draft special orders by consent and related documents are available on DEQ’s website.

Importance of recycling discussed at first North Carolina Recycling Roundtable; 25 businesses sign commitment pledge to strengthen recycling efforts

RALEIGH – State environmental officials joined businesses and organizations yesterday at the Grifols facility in Clayton for the first Recycling Roundtable. Twenty-five attendees signed a pledge to work together to identify solutions to create a more resilient recycling system that grows the economy and creates jobs while protecting the environment.

RELEASE: Emissions Inspections Exempt 20-Year-Old Vehicles Starting Dec. 1

Beginning Dec. 1, North Carolina’s vehicle inspections requirement will exempt vehicles 20 years old from obtaining a yearly emissions test in the 22 counties which emissions testing is required.
