The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Division of Water Resources will be treating the Eno River for hydrilla, an invasive aquatic plant, May 15 through Aug. 31.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality has prepared and submitted a human health risk assessment of 1,4-dioxane in drinking water, as directed by the General Assembly (Session Law 2023-137, Section 9(b).)

The public is advised to avoid fishing and recreational activity along a portion of Swift Creek in Craven County due to an animal waste spill in the area.

The N.C. Oil and Gas Commission will meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 7, for its regular quarterly meeting. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. (ET).

The Department of Environmental Quality’s State Energy Office is accepting proposals for weatherization training and technical assistance projects, with $14.68 million in federal funding available.

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) Science Panel is scheduled to meet via web conference on May 1 at 2 p.m. to continue its review of Inlet Hazard Area boundaries. The public may listen to the meeting by computer or phone.

State and local leaders gathered today at Lincoln Heights Environmental Connections Magnet Elementary School to celebrate Earth Day with students and release the state’s new K-12 Environmental Literacy Plan.

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) will meet April 24-25 at the Dare County Government Center, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo. The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. on April 24 and resume at 9 a.m. on April 25. A public input and comment period is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on April 25. At the chair’s discretion, comments may be limited to 3 minutes per person. The public may attend the CRC meeting in-person or join online. The Coastal Resources Advisory Council (CRAC) will meet April 24 at 1 p.m. at the same location. This meeting will be in person only.
