Grant Programs

The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries provides grant funding to individuals, private businesses and organizations, universities, and local and state governments to benefit recreational fishing and boating. Periodically, the division announces the availability of funding through the Coastal Recreational Fishing License (CRFL) Grant Program, the Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIG), and state and federal economic relief programs. Funding announcements will detail eligibility information, how to prepare a proposal, the proposal deadline, and other important information. In addition, the division also helps to administer the Commercial Fishing Resource Fund.

Boating Infrastructure Grant Program

The BIG Program provides funding for projects that aim to construct, renovate or maintain infrastructure and amenities for recreational transient vessels.

Coastal Recreational Fishing License Grant Program

The CRFL Grant Program provides funding for projects that aim to manage, protect, restore, develop, cultivate and enhance the marine resources of the state.

Commercial Fishing Resource Fund

The Commercial Fishing Resource Fund program provides funding for the development of sustainable commercial fishing in the State.
