The energy efficiency focus area contains projects that improve the efficiency of buildings, schools, or homes. The FY20-21 ARPA funds cover a total of 6 energy efficiency projects listed below.
1) Appalachian Energy Center LMI Household Energy Burden Reductions
The Appalachian Energy Center within Appalachian State University is partnering with weatherization assistance providers to deliver advanced energy burden reduction and measurement and verification services.
2) Enhancing Electric Cooperative Rebate Programs
Advanced Energy will be installing high-efficiency heat pump systems in LMI electric cooperative member homes.
3) Supportive Housing Mechanical Equipment Efficiency Upgrades and Assessments
Advanced Energy will provide mechanical equipment changeouts for supportive housing projects in Tier 1 and Tier 2 counties.
4) Upgrade & Save - Heat Pumps in Energy Star-labelled Manufactured Homes
East Carolina University will support the sale and siting of ENERGY STAR-labeled HUD Code manufactured homes with heat pumps.
5) Energy Monitoring, Assessments, and Savings
The NC Electric Membership Corporation and Municipal Electric Utility providers will provide in-home energy assessments, smart thermostats, and water heater controllers.
6) LED Lighting Upgrades for Rural NC K-12 Schools
NC GreenPower will provide gymnasium LED lighting upgrades for Tier 1 and Tier 2 public schools.
