The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) held its annual Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI) Conference October 9-10 to help businesses, industries, government entities and other organizations learn sustainability and pollution prevention best practices that both protect North Carolina’s environment and produce economic benefits.  

For the past 12 months, the top priority of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality has been to help communities in western North Carolina recover and rebuild from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

Supplemental federal funding will support hazardous waste, recycling and solid waste management recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
