The N.C. Division of Water Resources is accepting proposals for grant funds to implement watershed restoration plans to restore waterways impaired by nonpoint source pollution. The state expects to receive $1.2 million from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for competitive funding of projects under Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act during the 2019 grant cycle.

The N.C. Oil and Gas Commission will meet Feb. 12 in the ground floor hearing room of the Archdale Building in downtown Raleigh.   

The State Water Infrastructure Authority will meet Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the American Institute of Architects of North Carolina Building, 14 E. Peace Street, Raleigh. Agenda items include two presentations:

Carter Witten is the new colonel of the N.C. Marine Patrol. Witten, most recently captain of the Wilmington Marine Patrol District, will receive the golden eagle wings at a pinning ceremony at 3 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries headquarters in Morehead City.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board will hold its third meeting in Wilmington on Feb. 12.

The North Carolina Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board will meet Monday, Feb. 4 at the Archdale Building in downtown Raleigh. Topics for discussion will include GenX, methyl bromide and hexavalent chromium, among other items.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced two meetings and a thirty-day comment period on three general permits for animal operations. The three permits are the Swine General Permit, the Cattle General Permit, and the Wet Poultry General Permit.

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is hosting a stakeholder meeting Feb. 6 at the Forsyth Technical Community College from 6 to 8 p.m. to gather input on the design of the North Carolina Community Mapping Tool. This is the second of three meetings held across North Carolina. Specific details will be provided for the last meeting to be held in Western North Carolina.

The N.C. Climate Change Interagency Council will hold its second meeting on February 19 in Elizabeth City at the Museum of the Albemarle.  Tentative agenda items include agency update reports, invited speakers on coastal climate impacts and an update on the greenhouse gas inventory.
