The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host a remote public hearing for Monday, August 3, 2020, on the draft permits for two proposed Carolina Sunrock LLC facilities. Members of the public can comment during the August 3 hearing by telephone or online.  

The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission (EMC) will meet remotely Wednesday and Thursday, July 8-9 by teleconference. The N.C. Division of Water Resources (DWR) is urging the public to avoid contact with green or blue water, specifically in the Albemarle Sound and adjoining waterbodies, after receiving reports of discolored water observed in Edenton, Rocky Hock and Elizabeth City. Division staff are monitoring the blooms and have sent samples to the Water Sciences Section for analysis.

Superfund site in Navassa.
