State seeks public feedback on Alamance Aggregates mining permit

RALEIGH, NC – The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality is seeking community feedback on Alamance Aggregates LLC’s application for a mining permit for a crushed stone operation to be located off Clark Road in Alamance County. The public is invited to submit comments on the permit application at a public hearing planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Sylvan Elementary School, 7718 Sylvan Road in Snow Camp, N.C. Speaker registration will begin at 6:30 p.m.

NEW LOCATION: State reschedules public meeting on draft swine waste management permit

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced a new location to obtain public input on the state’s draft swine waste management system general permit (AWG100000) for Nov. 27 in Clinton.

RELEASE: DEQ approves low-risk classification of seven coal ash impoundment facilities

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has determined that Duke Energy has met the low-risk classification criteria set forth in the Coal Ash Management Act (CAMA) for coal combustion residuals surface impoundments located at Duke Energy’s Allen, Belews Creek, Buck, Rogers (formerly Cliffside), Marshall, Mayo, and Roxboro facilities.

RALEIGH – The N.C. Environmental Management Commission will meet this week at the Archdale Building in downtown Raleigh. Commission committees will meet Wednesday, Nov. 7, with the full commission meeting Thursday, Nov. 8.

REMINDER: Public invited to comment on renewal permit for remedial activities at Badin Business Park (formerly Alcoa-Badin Works facility)

RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Waste Management is seeking public feedback on a draft renewal permit to conduct remedial activities for contaminated soil and groundwater at the former Alcoa-Badin Works facility in Badin. The public comment period began Aug. 13 and was extended until Nov. 11 due to Hurricane Florence.
