Waste Reduction Assessment

During a waste reduction assessment, a team of technical assistance assessors conducts a waste characterization to assess types and volumes of waste generated as by-products from manufacturing and processing operations.  After this review, waste materials can be targeted and prioritized for options such as source reduction, reuse, and recycling with the potential for disposal cost savings or even a profit.

The assessors' partner with the DEACS Recycling and Materials Management Section to identify new opportunities for the recycling industry to divert reusable and recoverable materials from disposal.
