Education: A rising junior at Appalachian State University, majoring in Biology with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental biology.
About Laney: "I am from Swansboro, NC. This summer, I am looking forward to working outdoors and getting to learn about the coastal estuaries in person!"
Sam Townsend, Stewardship & Outreach Intern working with CTP Coordinator, Whitney Jenkins and Central Sites Manager, Paula Gillikin
Education: Currently attending Carteret Community College for her associate's degree in science, with plans to transfer to UNCW for a bachelor's degree in biology.
About Sam: "I am from Morehead City, NC, and I am happy to spend my summer on the Rachel Carson Reserve! What I look forward to the most during this internship is immersing myself in environmental studies with hands-on, real-world activities."

Education: A rising sophomore at Campbell University majoring in Elementary Education.
About Jenna: “I am from Spivey’s Corner, North Carolina. After college, I hope to return back to my hometown and teach at a local elementary school. One thing I am looking forward to during this internship is the opportunity to make new connections, work with students of all ages, and be able to help transfer written curriculum into real-life experiences for students to enjoy.

Ashley Getz, Stewardship Intern
Education: A senior at UNCW majoring in Biology with a concentration in Conservation.
About Ashley: "Previously a music teacher, I an hoping to use my teaching background in order to help educate and work with the public in a future biology career. I've always loved nature and I'm excited to share my passion with others. While working with the NCNERR, I hope to learn more about the estuary and coastline, as well as hands-on skills in the field."
Aaron Wilson, Stewardship Intern
Education: A rising senior at UNCW majoring in environmental science major with a minor in geospatial technology
About Aaron: "I enjoy backpacking, kayak fishing, and going to the gym when I'm not in the field. I look forward to learning new data collection and sampling methods this summer and want to apply what I've learned through this internship to future research projects of my own."
