The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources (DWR) has renewed the wastewater discharge permit for Badin Business Park, the former Alcoa Inc. aluminum production facility located in Badin, Stanly County.

The regular business meeting of the CRC will be called to order at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 and will resume at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20. A public input and comment period is scheduled for 9:05 a.m. on Nov. 20. At the chair’s discretion, comments may be limited to 3 minutes per person. The public may attend the CRC meeting in person or join online.

The State Energy Office, within the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), reported that efforts to reduce energy consumption in state-owned buildings have saved taxpayers more than $196 million in the year covering July 2023 to June 2024.
