Lithium-ion Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries don't belong in the trash or recycling. Take them to a designated drop-off location.
Beginning December 1, 2026, lithium-ion batteries will be banned from landfill disposal (G.S. 130A-309.10).
Find a Battery Drop-Off
- There may be a Household Hazardous Waste Program near you that will accept lithium-ion batteries.
- Contact your local government recycling program for other options.

- Redwood Materials may have a battery recycling drop-off near you.
Skip the Bin, Turn Your Batteries In
Lithium-ion batteries can spark fires when placed in the trash or recycling. Take them to a designated drop-off location for safe handling.
