Compost, the end product of the composting process, is a product containing organic matter, humus, microbial life, and micro/macro nutrients that has being sanitized through the naturally-occurring heating process, generated my microbial activity, and has being stabilized and matured to the point that is beneficial for soil improvement and plant growth.

Digestate is the solid by product of anaerobic digestion, nationwide standards are being developed by the American Biogas Council, however it is possible to land apply digestate or to further stabilize it by composting it.

Compost can be used in a wide range of applications and it will need to be specified different depending on its use, soil conditions, and other factors.  These are some examples of compost applications:

  • Erosion Control
  • Stormwater BMPs
  • Slope Stabilization
  • Nursery Beds
  • Field Nurseries
  • Planting Bed Establishment
  • Stormwater Runoff
  • Compost Tea
  • Turf
  • Sports Fields (golf courses, football/soccer fields, etc)
