Never place rechargeable batteries in trash or recycling carts
Lithium-ion batteries power many of the rechargeable devices we use every day. These batteries don’t belong in the trash or recycling. They can spark dangerous fires at facilities and in trucks. Always take them to a designated drop-off location.
The Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS) has developed these educational resources for anyone to use. Local governments, recycling haulers, businesses, residents, and other North Carolina organizations are encouraged to post or print and share these resources to help educate the public about proper management of rechargeable batteries.
Our staff can tailor these templates to fit your program's needs and add contact information. Email recycleright@deq.nc.gov to request a customized design.
